The basics: Blood counts reflect red blood cell production & loss. RBC's wear out (~100 days) & must be replaced.They can also be lost in menses, obvious bleeding or hidden bleeding from such places as your gut. Iron is a rate limiting component for production & is lost through bleeding. If your diet or supplements do not keep up with your iron losses, you become anemic. It is a lifelong issue. Some>others.
