PCOS: PCOS does include having multiple cysts in the ovaries, but also includes very irregular (usually non ovulatory) "cycles" with bleeding from estrogen stimulation of the uterine lining and tissue breakdown. Most women have "follicle cysts" in the ovaries, but ovulate normally, and have reasonably regular true "periods". PCOS patients benefit from low dose oral bcp's until ready for pregnancy.
