Hi im suffering with an ingrown toenail and i would like to know how i can ease the pain before going to see a doctor and try to pry out the nail. at the moment its swollen and the skin around it is just peeling off i have never had an ingrown before?

A few ideas: Soaking may relieve pain; ice may relieve pain; over the counter pain meds (aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen) may relieve pain. Foot elevation may relieve pain. If infected antibiotics may help. Best advice is to get real treatment soon.

Ingrown Toenail: I do not recommend self treatment or bathroom surgery as treatment for ingrown toenail. Occasionally they may respond to the conservative self treatment described above, however, in most cases the offending toenail needs surgical intervention provided by a Podiatrist. Podiatrists do so many of the procedures they are safe and effective and may prevent recurrence.
