Heartburn/backache: The stomach entry is just below/in back of the heart. Gnawing pain often represents the effect of stomach acid back-washing at this point. Caffeine/nicotine/acidic foods aggravate this as does laying down after meals. TUMS can sometimes give brief relief. The back issue would be separate. Sorting this out would require a followup with your doc.
