Doctor can evaluate: Chest tightness, chest pain, and shortness of breath can be due to minor problems or very serious ones. An emergency room doctor can check to see what might be going on. Sometimes, tests and chest x-rays will be done. Possible causes include rib or cartilage pain, myocarditis, heart attack, partially collapsed lung, asthma, reflux, arrhythmias, etc... One should not wait around with such symptoms.
