See Your Doctor: Nerve "falling asleep" are usaully a compression phenomenon in which prolonged pressure blocks the nerve pathway temporarily, this is called by doctors a "neuropraxia", if not associated with compression, it may be a sign of a neuropathy developing. Your doctor may order an emg/ncs test, to determine cause and prognosis. It is usually not serious in young patients. See your doctor if it persist.
