Nasal congestion : that is watery or clear is either caused by allergy or a condition called vasomotor rhinitis. Nasal allergies benefit from oral antihistamines and steroid nasal spray medications. Vasomotor rhinitis may benefit from the same medication, but another nasal medication, ipratropium, may be more helpful. If secretions are consistently thick, a sinus infection is possible.
