Define "always": Everyone ingests the yeast that causes thrush sporadically (it is everywhere). It becomes about 5% of the dry weight of poop. If you don't see a skim-milk or thicker layer of this on gums & other oral tissues it wouldn't be diagnostic for thrush. You likely have the germ in your moth sporadically as everyone does, but the odd tastes you mention are likely something else.

Oral hygiene : It would be prudent to see a dentist to ensure proper oral health. The weird taste may be a manifestation of poor oral hygiene.
