See details: Chronic back pain in a young man needs more detailed evaluation. There are inflammatory causes such as spondyloarthropathy as well as mechanical causes which need to be eliminated. I urge you to see a rheumatologist. The long term risks of naproxen are mainly GI with ulcers and GI bleeds the major risks. There may be a modest increased risk of cardiovascular and kidney disease with long term use.

Alternatives: You may take naproxen for the short term, but it is not a long term solution. Try physiotherapy to strengthen your muscles that may relieve the pain. If you are overweight, losing weight will help.
