Vaginitis: Infections of the vagina cause mucus discharge. Associated itching suggests yeast infection which can be passed back and forth by sexual partners until both are treated. Bacterial vaginitis or nonbacterial vaginosis are other causes of vaginal mucus discharge. Your gynecologist can evaluate and treat you if symptoms persist or worsen.
