No worries!: Everybody gets genital HPV (90+% of all humans), often several times, and at any point in time, the virus is present in up to half of all adults. Although some HPV types can cause cancer of the cervix, anus, genital skin, or pharynx (throat), even with these strains, the large majority of infected people do not progress to cancer. Life expectancy is no different in people with or without HPV.
