Blood clots: "Progesterone only" birth control usually is not associated with blood clotting, but being overweight and less active physically can predispose to clots. Provera is also progesterone, and is not usually prescribed unless your periods are delayed. Statistically, oral birth control (combination) pills which contain estrogen and progesterone are associated with a risk of blood clots.
