Pregnant?: "Heavy bleeding" prior to the onset of a period may occur from a pregnancy outside of the uterus (ectopic). Obtain a serum HCG test, and if positive, see your OB physician for an exam and possible pelvic ultrasound, as this kind of pregnancy needs immediate attention.
