IBS?: This sounds like irritable bowel syndrome. Continuing laxatives without medical advice likely will make it worse. See a doctor -- start with your family doctor or an internist. S/He might refer you to a gastroenterologist, but probably not necessary. Good luck!

Need bowel rehab: An x-ray of your colon would most likely show it ballooned to twice the expected size. The bowel wall muscle is weakened in this pattern. This often starts in early childhood with stool retention to avoid painful stools. With aggressive management by a gastroenterologist you can gradually clean out & return your colon size to near normal & normal function. The work is complex but possible.

Try something else: Exercise and drinking coffee may help the bowel to move . Consider trying Metamucil since Miralex does not work for everyone. I agree that a GI consult would likely be required in your case. Be sure that you drink enough water when taking Miralax or Metamucil.

Constipation: Also consider seeing a naturally-oriented doctor or a licensed nutritionist. You can be lab tested for food sensitivity and also told about probiotics (Dr. Ohira is a good brand). Peace and good health.

Needs evaluation: You need to see a GI specialist for evaluation. I would agree that IBS with constipation would be a possible diagnosis.
