Exam needed: Possible causes include pinched intercostal nerve or muscle which runs between 2 ribs in the lower left rib cage. Gas entrapment or pathology at the splenic flexure of the colon as it makes a turn, spleen or left basilar lung pathology are other possibilities. Start with an examination by your MD and appropriate tests will be done and referrals will be ordered.
