Likely muscular: The trapezius muscle runs from the shoulder/upper back all the way to the back of the neck. If there are knots/soreness in the trapezius muscle, it could cause pain in the back of the neck and cause headaches. It would be more concerning if the headaches were associated with fever, neck stiffness, or if they were severe. If this is the case, the best option would be to see your physician.
