Caution: Omeprazole lowers stomach acid production which helps healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers & other inflamed GI tissue. This drug is generally used short term. Although there does not appear to be addiction, tolerance & withdrawal with this drug to be on the safe side I would taper off of it because of how long you have been using it. If there are any side effects go to an Emergency Room!
