I had sex on day 22 of my ~30 day cycle and on day 31 have no period. took first response early hpt and it was negative. many sources say this is plenty of time, some say you need at least 1-2 more weeks for accuracy? what should i trust?

Guideline: If you're very regular, ovulation probably occurred on day 15. The egg is viable for 1 day. Sperm may last 5 days. Sex on days 10,11,12,13,14,15 and 16 would make ovulation possible. However this is only a guideline if you ovulated on day 15. Once you missed your period, pregnancy test should be reliable. If in doubt repeat the test in a few days.
