Self-exam: In the absence of a family history of breast cancer or presence of genetic markers, you should self examine regularly to make sure that the lump is not changing in character or size and let your doctor know if there is any change. Do it no more than once a week or you may end up irritate it leading to inflammation. The risk is low at your age but still needs monitoring.
