If the imaging: features are consistent with a BIRADS 2(benign) lesion, the probability of malignancy is less then 1%, and the current standard of care is that biopsy or excision is not necessary. Did the doctor say what it was? If it is being called benign, there should be a specific diagnosis(e.g. cyst).
