Possibly: The hope is that drainage and antibiotics will cure the infection. You are right in that there is the risk of recurrence. In that case, the cyst area is usually excised and packed open to allow to heal from the bottom up. Thankfully, the drainage and antibiotics are usually adequate. Make sure you keep your follow up appointments.
