Esitropia: She needs to be seen by an ophthalmologist. At her age, she is beginning to accommodate her lens to see things up close more clearly. If she is accommodating too much, her eye(s) May begin to cross inward when she is looking up close. This can be a sign of “far sightedness” and if she is only crossing one eye, she may be developing amblyopia (lazy eye). She should be seen quickly.

Esotropia: When the two eyes are not aimed at the same location, the brain must decide which image is the correct one. Best solution is for the brain to direct the extraocular muscles to align the eyes (normal). If this can not be accomplished, the brain selects 1 of 2 options: suppress one image (amblyopia,"lazy eye") or alternate images . Surgery brings the eyes close enough for the images to merge
