It's time for a Dr.: Chest pain, with or without shortness of breath, can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. An ER doctor can check to see what might be going on. Possible causes include angina or heart attack, partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), asthma, pneumonia, stomach reflux, myocarditis, etc... One should not wait with such symptoms. One will also need her primary care doctor to follow-up care.
