A member asked:

Is it possible to have kidney problems without blood in the urine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Though the majority of serious kidney-related problems will often be associated with an abnormal urinalysis and the presence of an abnormal amount of red cells, protein, and/or white cells, there are many instances in which the urinalysis may be normal including kidney stones, tumors, cysts, obstruction, and diseases affecting kidney function that are discovered by blood tests and imaging studies.
