A member asked:

1. will the baby be well developed if i did not take any omega 3 supplements during pregnancy? 2. how do they help the unborn baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely fine: Omega-3 fatty acids are thought to help the baby's visual and neurodevelopment, but there is conflicting evidence for this in scientific studies. There does appear to be an association of decreased risk of preterm delivery at >34 weeks. Studies have looked at the role of Omega-3's in prevention of preeclampsia, but so far there is no definitive benefit for this seen. Your baby will likely be fine.
