A member asked:

How contagious is molluscum contagiosum? if all lesions are no longer present in the genital area, can it be transmitted through sex with protection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

MC Virus: Molluscum contagiosum (MCV) is highly contagious, but will be usually eradicated by your immune system in approximately a year. If sooner removal is desired, your health provider can remove the "bumps" . Skin contact or common use of towels can transmit the disease. If on the genital area, prevention is not certain using condoms.
