A member asked:

What are the risks of taking lifelong antibiotics for and what can you do to stay healthy while taking them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is ill advised: Antibiotics are like double edged swords. They can help you for one or two weeks...After that they create a lot more trouble than their benefit. They have serious side effects(like a form of pseudo-membranous colitis)and the bacteria develop resistence to antibiotics within 2 to 3 weeks.Of use..So when you need them for a future infection...You wil be out of luck due to antibiotic resistence.
