A member asked:

Hello, i went to the doctor about two weeks ago for my contraceptive injection. i was on my period and it still hasn't stopped. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not worrisome: Frequent bleeding and spotting are not uncommon on the contraceptive shot, especially after the very first injection. By the second shot, most women have resolution of the irregular bleeding. Some never do. Irregular bleeding is one of the top reasons women discontinue the shot. If your bleeding doesn't resolve and is bothersome, you may need to discuss alternative options with your doctor.
