Maybe, if non-immune: Herpes zoster (shingles) is due to the chicken pox virus. A person with shingles can touch a normal healthy person (not immunocompromised, not on prednisone medication, not a baby) who already has immunity to the virus from a past vaccination or a past case of chicken pox or shingles, and NOT give chicken pox nor shingles to the person whom he touches.

Low risk : Shingles is when the chickenpox (CPX) virus re-emerges from hibernation from a nerve root near the spine. It is only contagious if/when a non-immune person comes in contact with debris from the weeping wounds of the person. In adults, 96% of those who don't remember CPX have blood evidence of immunity. Simple avoidance of debris & hand washing removes any risk. CPX incubation is 10-21 days.
