The basics: Each nerve we have has an insulating material somewhat like that you see in the wires/extension cords you use at home. A neuroma occurs when that surrounding insulating material becomes excessive, in layers like an onion. They are relatively common on the top of the midfoot or back of the hand. Most just ignore them since they are benign & can return of you try to deflate/remove them.
