A member asked:

Does hand bone age necessarily correlate to leg and torso plate age.if my hand age is 17 does that also mean my legs and torso are 17 bone age as well?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: There is good correlation between hand and foot bone age, but there can be different interpretations depending on the person reading the x-ray, the quality of the x-ray, and depending on what standard is being used, ie, the US vs the European. It is most helpful to use a combination of factors to determine future growth , including sexual maturity exam, growth chart, as well as bone age.
