No : Hantavirus infection is contracted from exposure of infected rodents. Four to 10 days after the initial phase of illness, the late symptoms of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (hps) appear. These are cough and shortness of breath, with the sensation of a tight band around the chest and a pillow over the face. The lungs fill with fluid. In asthma lungs have more mucus, but do not fill with fluid.
