Simply Complex: Like humans, plants are composed of many intricate systems and chemicals that work in many ways. In humans, missing a single chemical can slow down/stop healing. It is reasonable to expect that in the complex ways humans heal and the complex ways that plants grow and thrive, that there would be some overlap of chemicals that both species create that the other needs to survive. Co2/o2 for example.
