Significance varies: Ear pain can suggest a stretch on the drum, in or out, caused by fluid or infection. It can also be from canal pain from swelling or debris. The only way to know the true significance is to have it examined. Ibuprofen can give some pain relief whatever the cause. If it bothers you enough you can have it looked at.
