A member asked:

I accidentally swallowed mouthwash while gargling. could this be dangerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: It is common for people to swallow some mouthwash. If you swallowed at mouthful or capful, it should cause no harm. Excess swallowed amount may make you slightly nauseated. Remember there is alcohol in most mouthwash. It has been known that some desperate alcoholics will drink the mouthwash for this reason.
