A member asked:

If a person had thalassemia major by the time they were 50 would they have such major symptoms a dr would suspect the person had it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: You wouldn't make it out of childhood without symptoms that would lead to severe symptoms. There are other forms of thallasemia that can remain relatively symptom free, but not thal major.
