The facets: are the "joints" which connect the bones in your spine together and they can be irritated in certain kinds of injuries. The "block" is generally a local anesthetic (like your dentist uses) and a steroid (cortisone) medication. If the facet joints are the source of your pain the response will be immediate and the steroids might extend that to several months in many cases! Hope this helps Dr Z
