A member asked:

I have a moderate thickening if my left ventricle. im 45 and have hypertension but i manage w/o meds (140/90 range). is this a heart condition? am i at high risk for heart failure? can it be reversed? doc said its not severe but not slight either

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypertension: Unless you have other reasons for a thickened left ventricle such as a heart valve abnormality, I would take this as a warning that your blood pressure has most likely been higher than normal. You should strive for a blood pressure of 120/80 and if life style changes don't accomplish this, antihypertension medications should be used. With good blood pressure control, left ventricle can normalize.
