Gastric spasms: This pattern is evidence of gastric spasms, or an irritation of the stomach lining. This can be triggered by a virus or reaction to a food. Offering small, 1-2 oz volumes of clear fluids every 15 min may help the kid stay hydrated and the stomach settle. Ice chips, chilled applesauce and Popsicles can also help. If you can avoid vomiting for several hours you may be able to advance feeds.
