A member asked:

How do i know if one has herpes in mouth (no symptoms) that can be transferred to the genitals? what test is done to assure the person doesnt have it

Herpes testing: There are blood tests to determine whether a person has herpes when they have no symptoms of oral or genital herpes. These antibody tests don't actually detect the virus, but determine whether you have or had the infection. You may transmit the virus even if you're not having actual eruptions. An infectious disease specialist can answer any other questions if you have further concerns.
