I missed two pills at the start of the pack as i started the pack two days late. will i be protected during the pill-free week? or should i start a new pack and miss the break? will i need to use a back up option ?

The pill will work: Even starting 2 days late, the pill if taken continuously, will inhibit ovulation. However, the use of a backup method this cycle will provide assurances that any "escapees" are not able to find a "willing sperm partner".
