A member asked:

Hi there. yesterday we noticed a cluster of spots on my sons back. i took him to the pharmacy and they said its a omloop. it has spread today. it looks like little blisters my question is can it be shingles. he has also not had chickenpox yet?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: One defining feature of shingles is it never crosses a line drawn along the spine. It is on one side or the other. Ringworm does not produce blisters. If he has received the chickenpox vaccine he could later get shingles. ( I've seen it as early as 15 mo). That said, only an exam where the doc can see the blisters can sort this out.
