Yasmin contraception: At 40, without a history of blood clots in veins, taking a low dose contraceptive is safe, and will reduce pre-menopausal PMS and emotional symptoms by lowering the estrogen levels (shutting down ovarian production of estrogen). Ask your GYN provider to consider prescribing.
