UVA vs UVB: Indoor tanning usually removes the uvb (burning) rays and only has uva rays which are deep penetrating causing that leather skin with deep wrinkles. Most in office treatments have narrow band uvb rays to treat psoriasis, for instance, taking the most active ray and eliminating other dangerous unhelpful rays. While you are still exposed to uv and risks are still present, the treatment is focused.

Indoor tanning: Indoor tanners are 74% more likely to develop melanoma than those who have never tanned indoors. One indoor tanning session a year while in high school or college boosted development of basal cell carcinoma(bcc) to 10%, more than 6 times a year had an 82% higher risk of bcc. Over 200 treatments of office uvb causes skin cancer development. Tanning beds and sun exposure increases skin cancer.
