A member asked:

Can hep a and syphilis be detected soon as 24 hours after exposure? or is there a set gesttion period where it lies dormant and will test negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lag period: The tests for these infections generally rely on antibody production by the infected person. It may take a few weeks to a few months for the test to become positive. During this period, a negative result would not rule out infection. You can get vaccination for Hep A. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
