Unlikely,: but was this seen on CT or x-ray? Sometimes these types of findings may be difficult to see on chest xray, so whether it is "new" or not may be an unreliable determination. Also, subclinical infections of some entities in endemic regions(e.g. histoplasmosis) may not cause many symptoms but could cause lung scarring. Talk to your doc about the results.
