Depends on...: If real influenza,and unvaccinated, one can consider taking Tamiflu. Over-the-counter meds for colds, coughs, flu, do help partially. Nobody really knows when a person stops being contagious with influenza (with or without Tamiflu treatment). One week out from the start of the illness (counting from the first day of fever, aches, or cough) is safe, unless one had prolonged or really bad symptoms.
