Depends: Bright red blood usually comes from tissue injury near the outlet. That might include a scratch in the outlet, hemorrhoids, etc. A darker blood suggests it comes from higher up & undergoes some change. Since the causes vary from simple/minor to nasty/bad you should go in to have it evaluated.
