Probably OK, but...: ...there are no data to know for sure. The only research on metronidazole for trichomonas is with 2 grams in a single dose, or 500 mg 3 times daily for 7 days. The 2 g single dose works 85-90% of the time and 7 days treatment is recommended, which your doctor apparently knows. My guess is that your dose (3.5 g over 2 days) will work pretty well, but why take the chance? Take it as directed.
