Sprained finger: Get it checked out now by your doctor. If it is dislocated it can be put back in place. If there is a fracture or break he/she will make sure it heals properly and not out of alignment. Peace and good health.

Some basics: If you can make a fist & then fully extend the fingers it is a good sign. If your injury makes this impossible, not so much. If there is swelling around one or more joints it may be minor unless it limits the motion as above. If there is bruising about a joint or joints there may be a small fracture in the finger bones or near the joint. Untreated fractures can lead to finger deformities later.
